Partnering with LUPUS UK

We are delighted to announce that we have partnered with LUPUS UK. 

This collaboration aims to contribute critical funding towards the only national registered UK charity supporting people with lupus and helping those being diagnosed. Throughout this partnership, Hilco will sponsor their 35th anniversary celebrations, participate in various fundraising efforts and work closely with the charity to offer additional support. 

LUPUS UK

Founded in November 1990, LUPUS UK offers information, resources and medical talks, a free helpline, regional support groups and an online forum with over 30,000 members and a grant program for research and welfare. The charity’s main vision is a world where people with lupus can live full and active lives.

What is Lupus?

Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease where the immune system is dysfunctional and mistakenly identifies the body’s own tissues as foreign invaders. In people with lupus, the immune system creates autoantibodies to attack the body’s tissues. These form immune complexes which cause inflammation and damage – possibly affecting the organs and/or the joints in some lupus patients.

Lupus is an uncommon, complex, and poorly understood disease. As such, many healthcare professionals, including General Practitioners, may not recognise the early signs resulting in a delay to referral and diagnosis. During this time, active lupus can cause damage to the kidneys, skin, heart, lungs and/or brain which may be irreversible.
